Surfcam ststus

Yes, the PC has finally crashed. After a few years in either 40 deg plus with salt air, or zero deg with salt air, its power supply has died. It will be fixed within a month so please be patient.

Whats the status of the Surfcam??? I am only getting old pics. Is it a hardware issue?? I use it often and would hate to see it disappear for good!

seems to be broken. i reckon the hard disk inside the pc has finally died. i'll need to get a new one and then go and fix the pc. i don't have a car at the minute so its gonna be a little difficult... but i do intend to fix it.

The surfcam now has a new UPS which will hopefully make it a little more resilient to power outages. Whilst installing it however I discovered that the hard disk is on its last legs and could die any day and will need replacing soon. I also cleaned the lens and the window, and adjusted the focus, so the images should be a little clearer now for a while.

Hi All,
This is Tim Barbour from the surf club. From the club's perspective, we are happy for the surfcam to stay put. When the Cafe changed hands, we were not clear as to who was our contact although we were assured that it would stay, regardless of what happened at the Cafe. We have monitored its performance and reset it when power failures caused it to drop out. Recently the data cable fell down causing the camera to point to the sky. That was brought to our attention and promptly fixed.
We will approach the necessary people to ensure its future. Watch this space.

Hi,
Who looks after the web cam, the site, and what's with the comments about the cam closing down? It's great to be able drop in and watch the water. Closing down should not be an option. who needs what to keep it going?

the cam is physically looked after by the surfclub, or by kevin when no one is down, who reset the pc after power outages and crashes etc. i look after website and maintenance of the hardware/software on the cam and the webserver. fleur and damien stefani paid for the camera, the UPS, and the setup of the ADSL.

Someone has bumped the surf cam and all we can see is the bush out the front of the life saving club. While I can't complain about how green the vegetation looks it would be great to see how good the surf looks.....if you could tilt the camera up a bit we would all appreciate it....keep up the great work.....cheers Silver Surfer

hey i come down here in the holz and i am hoping for sum good surf these holidays. ive been wanting sum clean consistent surf 4 a while so i hope these holidays bring me luck. Wednesday and thursday should be good with sum large swell building so i hope it gets sum good waves here. Cheers :)

hi guys ...in aprticular those who like that little stretch of paridise......been about 15 years since was last at the point.....am 39 now .....grew up there ...was only talking with friends this morning about the place ...awesome memories and I hope there is plenty more for other people to share ,,.....to those who are running this site ...well done ......look after my home town ...enjoy
