Hi all,
We have put a link to your site on the weather and surf section of our website walkervillekiosk.com.au
Cheers,
the kiosk
Thanks. But I no longer look after the surfcam. This site is dead and the camera was decommissioned a few months ago. I think someone else is doing it now but it wasn't working the last time I was down at the surf club about 2 months ago.
Instead of having a web cam uploading photos to a remote server, couldn't there be an IP camera, which could stream live at any time a live view of the surf?
you can pick up IP cameras at MSY for 50 bucks
For sure. There's nothing stopping us doing that now except for the fact that the ADSL connection down there can only support 1 video stream at a time. So that wouldn't be very fun if more than 1 user wanted to view the surf. Or what if some drongo left the video running all day? No one else would be able to view it at all. Multicast would be a nice solution here but at this stage not many ISP's in Australia support multicast routing (especially not outside their own network) and I think PIPE is the only peering provider which routes multicast traffic.
Can you point me to where MSY are advertising an IP camera for $50?
You can get a USB webcam for that price, but I don't think you can get an IP camera for that cheap......
wow. cool! thanks for the link
So the surf cam is dead? Oh well the surf has been shit over there during the usually very good surf that Autum produces
This current one is dead, yes. Its going to be replaced by a whole new setup soon though.
People if the web cam is down have a look at Neil Shaws web site
www.sandypointgallery.com.au
and click on the TODAYS WEATHER AND BEACH PHOTOS its updated every morning.....
I lived at Sandy Point for 15 yrs...it would be great to see the beach and surf again, but I couldn't locate the weather and beach photos link mentioned above.....am I doing something wrong ??
the link was a bit mangled (was missing the .au)
So sorry to see that the surf cam is down
I do hope this is not the product of those very few people with the infinitesimally small brains who complain when the webcam is down.
Thanks so much for keeping it going the way you do.
Anyone who relies on computers in any way knows how fragile they are and how often they have a hissy fit just because, grrr.
Just wanted to let you know that I love this surf cam and I love the pictures when all the stars line up and I can see them.
Awesome Job with the cam!
love coming online and seeing whats happening down at sandy!
To the ppl that bag the cam, its simple don't come to this site and im sure sandy doesn't want you to visit!
surf-forecast has given 5stars tomorrow morning 7th feb? is this correct?
might take a sickie!
What a fantastic service. Can't begin to imagine how much hassle it is to keep it going - thanks. I'm going to look out to see if I can spot my kids doing a surf lesson with the boardriders tonight!
